Hello MAB Members,
This is a Newsletter Extra Edition, hopefully to perk up some midwinter or after Christmas blues and
brings you up-to-date on upcoming rallies. I trust everyone had a delightful holiday and ready to
tackle the New Year with vim and vigor.
We are presently in Texas visiting relatives on our way to the Rio Grande Valley to visit some MAB
members, and eventually end up in California at the FMCA International Convention February 25,
2008. Isn’t motor home traveling the greatest? You can stop where you want (if the parking lot is
big enough) and when you want. You sleep in your own bed every night; eat your own food if you want;
there is nothing better if you can handle the cost of fuel.
The following 2008 rallies appear in the order of their urgency for you to respond:
September Rally 18-21, 2008: If you even think you will go to the September Rally at Mark Twain
Cave Campgrounds in Hannibal, MO and you have not already done so, get your reservation in with a
$26.39 deposit for the first nights stay. Refundable before two weeks of the rally if need be. This
is a very popular location and the deadline was December 7th 2007, but you might still be able to get
in. If you haven’t called, don’t put it off, call now! Call 1-800-527-0304 then contact the host Bob
& Paula Young . Co-hosting will be Dan & Niecy Milner and Bill & Carol Haenny.
July 17-20, 2008: Fox Hills RV Park in colorful Baraboo , WI near the Wisconsin Dells will be the
location for this rally. Our Hosts will be John and Ruth Serio assisted by Bob & Jan Israelson.
Please make your reservations ASAP by calling 1-888-236-9445 with a first nights stay deposit of
$36.55 (15% less than published rate) full refund less $10.00 available up to 10 days before arrival
date. Be sure to mention the Mid America Bounders group. Then contact John or Ruth Serio to let
them know that you are coming. Passport America rates apply from Sunday to Wednesday.
The next urgent reservation is for June 19-22, 2008 at Indiana Beach Camp Resort at Monticello ,
IN. This is another popular camping area and we must get our reservations in by March 1, 2008 in
order to reserve camp sites as a group. This would be a good time to bring children and/or
grandchildren. There is a variety of activities to enjoy. For more information go to www.
indianabeach.com. Reservations need to be made through Alice Blind. Camp sites will be $30.41 for
full hook-up and $28.45 for Electric & Water only. Alice has reserved a total of 15 sites at this
time and we can get more if need be. Again, don’t wait, call Alice now and make your reservation.
BOA International Rally: The plans for the BOA rally in Richmond , IN on May 13 – 16, 2008 are
coming along nicely. The Buckeye Bounders seem to have things under control. They have asked MAB
to assist in the Parking and Greeting. The setup of the campgrounds will be pretty much done by the
time we get there. MAB members will be able to come in as early as Saturday May 10, 2008. If
you don’t use any electric heaters or air conditioning you can stay the three extra days for $50.00;
otherwise, it will be $25.00 per day.
MAB will be directing the Parking of Coaches. The sites will be pre-assigned, so our job will be to
guide them into the proper site. We will have golf carts available for this task. We will need about
4 to 6 people per shift to handle parking.
The other task is greeting people by giving them a hardy wave and/or giving direction from strategic
corners along the route to the Fairgrounds. The amount of people needed for greeters will be
determined by the number of corners to be covered.
If you have not sent in your reservation for this years BOA rally, do so soon. Rally Registration
Forms are available in the Dec 2007-Jan.2008 issue of the Bounder Beacon on page 18 and http:
//buckeyebounders.org/.
Door Prizes for BOA Rally: Buckeye Bounders have also asked us to put together baskets of items
from our area for door prizes. So please bring something that is produced or represents your area
and we will put these together in baskets at the rally as we did for the Sedalia , MO rally.
August 21-24, 2008 this rally will be held at the KOA Indianapolis campgrounds and will be
convenient to the annual Mt. Comfort Air Show. Our hosts will be Rick & Kathy Groves and Co-Hosts
Danny & Gail Leonard. For reservations contact Rick or Kathy Groves at kgroves@mabounders.org.
More information will be forthcoming in future newsletters.
October 16-19, 2008: This rally will be at Sundermeier RV Park located on the Missouri River, at
St. Charles , MO a northwest suburb of St. Louis , MO. Hosting this rally will be Larry & Jolly Ann
Whitener and Tom & Judy Robinson. For reservations call Sundermeier RV Park 1-800-929-0832 or
636-940-0111 and mention the Mid America Bounders group.
Concerns: Bob Hansen is recovering from a very successful surgery on his back and came through in
good shape and is now healing. He is very bored because he cannot do anything in the way of any
work. Judy is driving him where they go. We are glad he is doing well and behaving himself.
Joe Ernest is also recovering from his hip surgery and is now in physical therapy three days a week.
He is walking with a cane until the nerves grow back and he can lift his foot well enough to drive.
His eye is also doing well and is soon to be released from his eye doctor. Joe and Betty now have an
e-mail address .
New Members: We want to welcome two new members that have joined us recently.
Jerry & Carol Bigelow, Shawano , WI
Jerry & Faith Hinkle, Aurora , IN
We look forward to them being with us at our rallies and extend the hand of friendship.
