   Happy Summer MAB Members:

Our rally season was started off with a Big Splash!  Indiana Beach Camp & Amusement
Resort in Monticello , IN was the place to be for fun and just relaxing and enjoying the
great weather.  Another great MAB rally goes down in the memory book thanks to our
hosts Alice, Scott & Jodi Blind and Kyle & Nancy Davis.  Just ask the grandchildren,
nieces and friends of MAB members what they enjoyed the most.  We had a total of 12
kids who joined us for the rally.  There certainly was a variety of things to do with rides,
going to the beach, and the water parks.  The upper middle age children, of whom I am a
part, took a leisurely 75 minute ride on The Shafer Queen, a large double-decker
paddlewheel driven excursion vessel around Lake Shafer .  It was very relaxing and
beautiful. Also, as usual at this rally, we ate very well thanks to our hosts doing all the
planning.  On Thursday evening we had a pitch-in of snacks and on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday mornings our ticket for breakfast every morning was a completed Brain Puzzle to
which prizes were given for the most correct answers. On Friday evening we all went to
the Sportsmans Club for dinner and Saturday evening we had a pitch-in dinner.  Of
course, the MAB ladies are the best chefs in the world and so I have included just a few
of their tasty recipes in this letter.  Each evening, dinner was followed by a campfire at
the Clay’s coach.  Thanks to Dick Clay for being our fire master for all the evenings.
Of course, we had to make smores and roast marshmallows.  Yum!  Oh, I almost forgot
about the Ice Cream Run every evening that several of our members had to make before
they are able to retire for the evening.  On our way into any rally, the scouts are making
sure they take note of the ice cream places to visit.

JULY RALLY:  As of this writing, we are still scheduled to meet at Fox Hill RV Park in
Baraboo, WI on July 17-20, 2008, near the famous Wisconsin Dells. There has been a
question of “flood damage” in the area, but thus far Fox Hill is free of any damage.  This
area is very “kid friendly.”  Our Hosts will be John & Ruth Serio and Co-Hosts Bob & Jan
Israelson. Those who have signed up please contact John Serio and let him know how many
people (adults & children) are in your party. There are 13 rigs signed up thus far and
there is still room for more reservations if you can see your way clear to join us.  For
reservations call Toll Free: 1-888-236-9445 and tell them you are with MAB.  Make
sure you also contact John & Ruth Serio.   For more information on Fox Hill, go to the
    website at:  http://www.foxhillrvpark.com

things lined up for a unique rally centered around the Mt. Comfort, IN Air Show, August

Mt. Comfort Annual Air Show. Friday they are setting up a “Hands on Motor Home Driving
School.” Also, on Friday we will be able to see the practices at the airport from the
campgrounds.  Friday night will be a pitch-in dinner so please bring a covered dish, salad,
or dessert. Saturday, Rick has made arrangements to take two motor homes over to the
Air Show so we have our own facilities available to us at the show.  Advance Discount Air

OCTOBER RALLY: October 16-19, 2008: Our Hosts will be Larry & Jolly Ann Whitener
and Co-Hosts Tom & Judy Robinson at Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles , Missouri. St.
Charles is the beginning of the “Lewis & Clark Trail,” and was also the first capitol of MO
which has been preserved to the look of that era. Being a suburb of St. Louis , MO
there is a wide variety of things to do.  Make your reservations by calling Sundermeier
RV Park at 1-800-929-0832. Please contact Jolly Ann and let her know you are coming.

CONCERNS:  We recently learned that Paul Fulkerson is in a nursing home to recuperate
from health issues.  To send him “get well” wishes, send mail to his home address and his
granddaughter will see that he gets it.

Also, Hank Weast is getting back to normal activity and doing well.

BOA BALLOT:  In the June-July issue of the Bounder Beacon are two issues the
Executive Board would like to have your input on.  On pages 18-20 are “Constitution and
Bylaws Amendments” and a Ballot on page 21. Please fill out your ballot and mail in the
enclosed envelope.  Pages 25 & 26 deal with a survey concerning whether or not to merge
with Bounders United. If you were not able to turn in this survey at the Richmond Rally,
please fill this out and send it in the same envelope with your ballot.  Please place in the
mail no later than June 30, 2008.  Do it now!!

    FUN FACTS:
George Washington never lived in the White House—although Washington oversaw the
construction, John Adams (the second president) was actually the first one to live there.

Electricity wasn’t installed in the White House until 1891 – Benjamin Harrison (the 23rd
president) was the first to have electricity.

The tallest president was a full foot taller than the shortest – Abraham Lincoln was 6’4”
    while James Madison was 5’4”.

The parties have only been associated with a color since 2000 – the Democrats with the
color blue and the Republicans with red.

The youngest man to become president was Theodore Roosevelt (age 42) following the
assassination of William McKinley—however, the youngest to be elected was John F.
Kennedy (age 43) … Ronald Reagan was the oldest president to be elected (age 69).

                                                   PRESIDENT’S CORNER:
                                                      By Jerry Hardacre

As mentioned above, the BOA executive board wants your input on the BOA and BU
merger and your vote on the Constitution and Bylaws Amendments.  I know the time is
short if you are receiving this by USPS, but they want it postmarked by June 30,
    2008.

We had a great time at Indiana Beach with all the young people.  After spending two
weeks with our grandchildren at Myrtle Beach, SC. we decided another weekend would be
too much. I think the feeling was mutual.

“RV Friendly Signs”: I just read an article that sounds interesting for MAB members. “RV
Friendly Signs” with a big yellow circle and black letter “RV” attached to some business
signs along interstates in 15 states indicate that there is room for your motor coach at
their business.  The regulatory agency that controls interstate signage is proposing a
change that might just kill this program.

Carol and I will be leaving on July 3 and will not return until the first part of
September.  We will be going to the FMCA convention in St. Paul , MN then stop by the
MAB rally in Baraboo , WI and from there we will go to Maine to join 23 other RVs to
travel the Maritime Provinces for a 33 day tour with Tracks to Adventure.  We will be
touring New Brunswick , Nova Scotia , Newfoundland and Prince Edwards Island .  We are
looking forward to the trip.  We regret however, that we will have to miss the August
rally in Indianapolis , IN.  We will be thinking of you and I hope visa versa.

The MAB website, mabounders.org is a great communicator when kept up to date.  Kathy
Groves has been doing a fabulous job of doing just that. She is needing information from
some of our members to complete the job. If you have not checked it out, you need to do
    so.

Unless someone would like to step forward and put together a newsletter for the month of
July and August we may only have one for the two months.  We can work out the mailing
if someone can put it together.

God Bless each one of you,
Have a great summer and safe travels.

    Jerry L. Hardacre

We will see you in Baraboo,
