Hello MAB Members:
As you know our President and Secretary, Jerry and Carol Hardacre are out traveling
in their RV so we will do our version of a newsletter.
Our August rally was held at Mount Comfort KOA at Mount Comfort, IN very ably
hosted by Kathy and Rick Groves. Even though the temperature was very warm, the
fellowship and activates were great.
On Thursday night Rick and Kathy had Brats and Hamburg’s on the grill to welcome us
after a long drive ( I know some of us had it easy).
On Friday morning Rick and Herb went to Washington Square Mall and set up a driving
course for anyone who wanted to practice driving. Much thanks to Rick and Herb for
their patience with the drivers trying not to hit those orange cones. Then in the
evening we had another great potluck with Rick and Kathy doing ribs and chicken on the
grill. It was good eating. After the potluck we had a short business meeting to
discuss places for next years rallies and much to my delight have 2 scheduled. I also
had mapped out where our membership lives to get a idea what might work to be of
more equal distances for us all. If you have a great place to go we would love to hear
about it.
On Saturday we took two RV’s to the airport with Rick leading the way with his
firemen lights flashing going in the back way to the parking lot. We think that folks
must have thought that VIPs were attending and much to their surprise the older
yellow shirt people came out! There they put the two RV together so the awings came
together and had a shady place to sit. It was a great air show with the new raptor
airplane making a showing.
SEPTEMBER RALLY: September 18-20 in Hannibal, MO at the Mark Twain Cave
Campground which is located one mile south of Hannibal on Highway 79. On the
schedule for this rally:
Thursday- 5 pm Happy Hour, so bring a snack to share.
Friday- After breakfast we’ll be touring Hannibal on the Twain land Express -$7.00
per person if you want to go and will be collected with the rally fee on Thursday.
Supper will be a potluck with hosts providing a baked potato/topping bar, please bring
a vegetable, salad or dessert. A ladies craft will be after the meal – bring scissors
and old CD’s
Saturday- After breakfast, the day will be free to do sightseeing in the Hannibal area
or go to Nauavoo if desired. Supper will be at a Hannibal restaurant at 5 PM. Hope
you all are signed up. This will be another fun rally!
OCTOBER RALLY: October 16-18 in St. Charles MO at the Sundermeier RV Park
with the Whitners and the Robinson’s as hosts. If you have not made your reservations
for this campout you will be missing a great time in this historic town. Call
Sundermeier RV Park at 800-929-0832 or office 636-940-0111 to make reservations
and then let Whitners know that you will be joining the fun.
NEXT YEAR: We have tentive hosts for June 18-20 in Effingham, Ill, August in
Shipshewana area and Oct 15-17 Springfield, IL. Many thanks to those who have
volunteered so far and how about some others finding a place?
NEW MEMBERS: Rick Groves sister and brother-in-law Connie and Jim Bucksot joined
MAB at this meeting. We hope you will become active and enjoy our chapter as much
as we do.
Hope to see you all at the next two rallies. Those who have not be able to attend this
summer we miss you!
